The Emmy Award-winning duo delves into the harrowing details of the La Manada rape case, a disturbing incident that unfolded during the San Fermín festivities in Pamplona, Navarre, Spain, on July 7, 2016. This tragic event involved the gang rape of an 18-year-old woman and ignited a nationwide debate on the interpretation of rape laws in Spain.

The perpetrators, five men, including a member of the Civil Guard and another from the Spanish Army in Seville, recorded themselves viciously assaulting the victim in the vestibule of an apartment building. Dubbed “La Manada,” which translates to “The Pack” in Spanish, they initially evaded sexual aggression charges but were convicted of sexual abuse due to the prosecution’s inability to prove the use of explicit violence against the victim. The verdict sparked widespread outrage and protests throughout Pamplona and across Spain.

The documentary film serves as a comprehensive examination of the case that catalyzed Spain’s first #MeToo movement. Focusing on the sexual assault endured by a young woman during the 2016 Sanfermines at the hands of the five men known as “La Manada,” the feature film unfolds through the firsthand accounts of surviving victims – narrated by Natalia de Molina and Carolina Yuste – as well as testimonies from individuals closely connected to the events, many of whom are speaking out for the first time.
