In the comedy film “Ricky Stanicky,” set to stream on Prime Video starting March 7, Zac Efron and John Cena headline a hilarious tale of mistaken identities and absurd schemes. Directed by Peter Farrelly, known for his blend of crude humor and heartfelt storytelling seen in classics like “There’s Something About Mary” and “Dumb and Dumber,” this R-rated movie promises a mix of juvenile laughs and nuanced character development.

The story kicks off two decades ago, when three close friends devise a fictional persona named Ricky Stanicky to take the blame for their various misdeeds. Now, as their partners grow suspicious and demand to meet the elusive Ricky Stanicky, the trio enlists the help of a washed-up impostor to bring the imaginary character to life.

Efron’s character Dean, along with his buddies JT (played by Andrew Santino) and Wes (portrayed by Jermaine Fowler), rely on “Ricky Stanicky” as their convenient scapegoat whenever they need an escape from reality. However, their significant others are fed up with the charade and insist on meeting Ricky in person. Cue the entrance of John Cena as Rock Hard Rod, a Vegas performer and dedicated character actor hired to impersonate Ricky and fool their loved ones, as well as their boss, into believing they’re responsible adults.
