Prior to the television debut of its second season in the fall, The IDOLM@STER Shiny Colors will be showcased in Japanese theaters as three separate films. The screening schedule is as follows: the first film will run from July 5 to July 25, the second film from August 23 to September 12, and the third film from September 20 to October 10.

The first season of The IDOLM@STER Shiny Colors anime is set to premiere on April 5. Notably, the first season was also adapted into three films for theatrical release in Japan. The initial film screened from October 27 to November 16 and grossed 40,284,350 yen (approximately US$268,100) during its opening weekend. The second film followed suit, running from November 24 to December 14, while the third film screened from January 5 to January 25. These films were shown across 75 theaters spanning 47 prefectures in Japan.

Directed by Mankyū (known for Idolm@ster Cinderella Girls Theater and The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague), the anime adaptation of The IDOLM@STER Shiny Colors is produced by Polygon Pictures. Series scripts are supervised and written by Yoichi Kato (credited for The IDOLM@STER Million Live! and Aikatsu!), while the opening theme song is “Tsubasa Gravity.”

The IDOLM@STER Shiny Colors originated from Bandai Namco Entertainment’s browser game launched in April 2018. In this free-to-play game, players train idols and engage in live concert performances while competing against other producers/players online. The project has extended beyond the game itself, spawning concert events, merchandise, CDs, and radio programs.

Last April, Bandai Namco Entertainment unveiled The IDOLM@STER Shiny Colors: Song for Prism, a smartphone game, expanding the franchise’s reach further.
