Get ready for an enchanting voyage! An esteemed OTT platform is gearing up to bring Astrid Lindgren’s beloved novel, “Ronia, The Robber’s Daughter,” to life with an enthralling live-action series titled “Ronja, The Robber’s Daughter.” Embark on a spellbinding adventure alongside a spirited young girl raised amidst a group of robbers within the walls of a medieval Scandinavian castle.

Prepare for riveting exploits and touching moments as Ronja navigates the intricacies of friendship, family, and the wild allure of the dark forest. Astrid Lindgren’s “Ronja the Robber’s Daughter” has been acquired by Netflix in the Nordics and other significant territories.

The Swedish-language series, adapted from Lindgren’s bestselling book by acclaimed writer Hans Rosenfeldt, creator of “The Bridge” and “Marcella,” and directed by Lisa James Larsson (“Victoria”), promises an unforgettable journey. “Ronja the Robber’s Daughter” unravels the adventures of a young girl born into a band of robbers in a medieval Scandinavian fortress. As Ronja matures, she discovers that the surrounding forest harbors both magic and peril. When Ronja befriends Birk, a boy from a rival band, a fierce family feud erupts, compelling them to flee into the forest and fend for themselves.

Led by a talented cast, including Kerstin Linden, Jack Bergenholtz Henriksson, Christopher Wagelin, Krista Kosonen, Johan Ulveson, and Sverrir Gudnason, the series is produced by Bonnie Skoog Feeney and Mattias Arehn (“Beartown”) of Filmlance, a Banijay company. Co-produced with Viaplay, Film i Väst, Ahil UAB, ARD Degeto, and with support from the European Union, Creative Europe, and Nordisk Film & TV Fond, the series promises to captivate audiences with its captivating narrative and stunning visuals.

Expressing his excitement, Rosenfeldt stated, “I’m thrilled that ‘Ronja the Robber’s Daughter’ has found a new home. It has a fantastic team both in front and behind the camera.” Jenny Stjernströmer Björk, Netflix’s VP of Nordic Content, added, “The rich heritage of Astrid Lindgren is an integral part of Sweden’s DNA. We hope the series will bring joy to our Nordic members, and we look forward to welcoming ‘Ronja the Robber’s Daughter’ to Netflix in 2024.”
