Amidst the suffocating grip of grief following the loss of her child, Vanessa seeks solace at her family’s serene lake house, hoping the tranquil surroundings will offer respite from her anguish. Accompanied by her devoted husband, Alex, and his brother, Martel, Vanessa yearns for a semblance of normalcy amidst the crushing weight of tragedy.

However, Vanessa’s fragile sanctuary is shattered when she encounters a chilling anomaly: an attack by her doppelgänger from a parallel universe. This unsettling encounter forces Vanessa to confront the unsettling truth of the multiverse’s existence. As she grapples with the mind-bending concept of alternate realities, Vanessa is forced to confront a daunting reality: the multiverse gates hold the potential to either liberate her from her grief or ensnare her in its merciless grasp for eternity.

Directed by Iranian filmmaker Kourosh Ahari, whose previous works include “The Yellow Wallpaper,” “Generations,” and “The Night,” “Parallel” delves into the depths of existential dread and psychological turmoil. The screenplay, co-written by Ahari along with Aldis Hodge, Edwin Hodge, and Jonathan Keasey, explores themes of loss, redemption, and the blurred boundaries between reality and illusion.

Starring the talented Danielle Deadwyler as Vanessa, alongside brothers Edwin Hodge and Aldis Hodge, “Parallel” promises a gripping narrative infused with the eerie ambiance reminiscent of a “Black Mirror” episode. As Vanessa navigates the treacherous terrain of parallel universes, she must confront her deepest fears and darkest desires in a race against time to reclaim her shattered psyche.

Produced by a dedicated team including Aldis Hodge, Edwin Hodge, Jonathan Keasey, Sean Lydiard, Jaylen Moore, Elliott Michael Smith, and Ann Zhang, “Parallel” offers a fresh perspective on the age-old tale of grief and redemption. Set to debut in select theaters and on VOD on February 23rd, 2024, “Parallel” invites audiences to embark on a thrilling journey through the twisted corridors of the human psyche.
