Monday night marked the long-awaited premiere of “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles, and the initial reactions are already flooding social media.
In this epic kaiju film, audiences finally witness the thrilling team-up of Godzilla and Kong as they unite to combat a new global threat.
Returning to the director’s chair for “The New Empire” is filmmaker Adam Wingard, accompanied by familiar faces from the MonsterVerse franchise such as Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, and Kaylee Hottle. Joining the cast is British actor Dan Stevens, known for his collaboration with Wingard in “The Guest” (2014). Additionally, new additions to the ensemble include Fala Chen, Alex Ferns, and Rachel House. The screenplay is penned by Terry Rossio, Simon Barrett, and Jeremy Slater.
“The New Empire” marks the fifth installment in the MonsterVerse series, following “Godzilla” (2014), “Kong: Skull Island” (2017), “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” (2019), and “Godzilla vs. Kong” (2021). Notably, the franchise has expanded beyond the big screen with the release of the anime series “Skull Island” (2023) on Netflix and the live-action series “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” (2023) on Apple TV+.
