Taking place in the tumultuous backdrop of the 1940s, the narrative unfolds in the picturesque Slovakian town of Bardejov, where the local police gradually align themselves with the Nazi regime. Amidst this upheaval, Rabbi Rafuel Lowy, along with the Jewish council, devises a plan to safeguard the Jewish boys who are compelled to register for labor. With resourcefulness and determination, Rafuel manages to secure a position for these boys within the town’s brewery, shielding them from the horrors of Nazi persecution.

However, the precarious situation escalates when Jewish girls are mandated to work in a shoe factory located in the distant East. As Rafuel delves deeper into the matter, he uncovers a harrowing truth—the girls are not being sent to the promised factory but are instead being transported to the dreaded Auschwitz concentration camp. Faced with this grim revelation, Rafuel embarks on a daring mission to rescue the girls from certain doom.

The narrative unfolds against the backdrop of escalating tensions and imminent danger, as Rafuel and his allies navigate the treacherous landscape of Nazi-occupied Europe. Their bravery and sacrifice serve as a beacon of hope amidst the darkness of oppression, highlighting the resilience and humanity that endure even in the face of unimaginable adversity. Through Rafuel’s courageous efforts, the story shines a light on the power of solidarity and resistance in the fight against tyranny and injustice.
