Following in the success of The Ultimatum: Marry Or Move On, the new show The Ultimatum: Queer Love was announced by Netflix, and it’s time to share facts about the highly-anticipated sequel series. The Ultimatum: Queer Love season 1 has been confirmed to feature five LGBTQ+ couples with female and non-binary partners in same-sex relationships. They’re divided, as one partner issued a marriage ultimatum to their partner, which has yet to be answered. The new season of the hit show will drop its first batch of episodes on Netflix on May 24, though a lot of information is already known about the format and cast members.

The Ultimatum: Marry Or Move On premiered in 2022, as romance experiment show, Love Is Blind’s sister show. The first season featured male-female couples who were at a crossroads in their relationships, a format that will be carried over to the follow-up show, The Ultimatum: Queer Love. The show first has couples split before they date within their group, and then form new couples at “the choice.” The new couples then live together for several weeks before the original couples get back together. At the end of the show, couples decide if they will stay together and move towards marriage or split, and either remain single, or leave with someone new.

The Ultimatum: Queer Love will have its first four episodes of the ten-episode season released on Netflix on Wednesday, May 24. The following week (Wednesday May 31) will have the next three episodes release. The final three episodes will then air on Netflix on Wednesday, June 7. While The Ultimatum: Marry Or Move On was hosted by Love Is Blind hosts Vanessa and Nick Lachey, The Ultimatum: Queer Love will be hosted by JoAnna Garcia Swisher. This appears to be a smart choice, as Vanessa received backlash for her hosting skills following the Love Is Blind season 4 reunion.

Before Netflix made the decision to market The Ultimatum: Queer Love as a spin-off, it was initially intended to be The Ultimatum season 2. Chris Coelen (the CEO of Kinetic Connect), who created The Ultimatum, explained in an interview with Variety that after they filmed The Ultimatum: Queer Love, “it felt like it made sense to differentiate the two [shows].” While The Ultimatum: Queer Love was also filmed in Texas like The Ultimatum, and will share other similarities. “Having a different host for the different versions [also] made sense to us,” Chris continued.

The cast for The Ultimatum: Queer Love has been announced, and eight of the ten The Ultimatum: Queer Love cast members can be found on Instagram. The show will feature five couples, Vanessa Papa and Xander, Lexi Goldberg and Raelyn, Mal Wright and Yoly Rojas, Tiff Der and Mildred Bustillo, and Sam and Aussie. All cast members are members of the LGBTQ+ community, while some identify as non-binary, according to their Netflix bios. Fans of The Ultimatum can meet the cast during the first four episodes of The Ultimatum: Marry Or Move On, when they release on Netflix on May 24.
