Emma Watson is an English actress, model, and activist. She rose to fame playing the character of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film series, appearing in all eight films from 2001 to 2011. Watson was born on April 15th, 1990 in Paris, France to English lawyers Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson. She is the youngest of three children and the only daughter.

Originally, Watson attended the Dragon School in Oxford, and later went on to study at the prestigious Headington School. At the age of nine, Watson began acting in school plays and eventually landed a role in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. She continued her studies while filming the Harry Potter series, and graduated from Brown University in 2014.

Watson has since gone on to appear in a number of films, including My Week with Marilyn, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Bling Ring, Beauty and the Beast, and Little Women. She also starred in the Netflix adaptation of The Circle, and provided the voice of Princess Pea in the animated movie The Tale of Despereaux.

In addition to acting, Watson is a prominent advocate for women’s rights and gender equality. She was appointed as a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador in 2014, and launched the HeForShe campaign in 2015. Watson also serves as a coach and mentor for the charity We Day and is a board member of the Anti-Slavery Collective.
